Getting to the Island

The quickest and easiest way is to fly to Split airport, flying time 2.15hrs. Charters can be cheap for late bookings. Try Holiday Options (flight only, they fly from a variety of regional airports.) on 0870 013 0450

Easy Jet flies direct from Gatwick, Bristol and Stanstead.

Westernair fly from Birmingham, Gatwick, Bristol and Manchester.

Ryan Air ( fly into Trieste in Italy, one can fly there, hire a car and drive through Slovenia and into northern Croatia, then meander down the coast taking a few days over the journey. Trieste to Split driving time is about 8 hours if you use the [excellent] motorway.

Alternatively Ryan Air also fly to Ancona Italy. From here you can get an overnight ferry to Split. Sailing time 10 hrs.

Ryan Air flies from Stanstead to Zadar. About 2 hours drive to Split. Coaches available.

Having arrived at Split airport take the bus to the ferry terminal (£3). Taxis are also available to hire from the airport. The ferry for Brac sails 13 times per day in the summer months starting at 5.15am and finishing at 21.00hrs. This is restricted to to 7 sailings per day between October and the end of March. To confirm sailing times ring 00385 21 338 333 they speak English. Charges are about £4 for a foot passenger or £20 for a car and two passengers. The crossing takes 45 minutes. The ferry docks at Supetar; Bol is a 35-minute drive over the island. There are 5 buses per day linking Bol and Supetar tel 00385 21 631 122. Taxis are plentiful.

Alternativley a fast catamaran leaves Split daily at 1600hrs and goes directly to Bol (£4). From Bol to Split sailing times are 06.30hrs Monday to Saturday and 07.30hrs Sunday (foot passengers only).
